What is the Procedure for Dental Crowns?

The full procedure to have a dental crown placed will require two visits to our Cambridge dental office. On the first visit, the dentist will prepare the affected tooth to receive the crown. This will require a small portion of it to be removed so that the crown can fit comfortably. Your dentist at Dental Art Clinic in Cambridge will apply a local anesthetic to minimize any discomfort for this part of the procedure. Once the tooth is the right shape and size, an impression will be taken of it. A temporary crown can be placed at the end of this appointment to keep the tooth protected.

The permanent crown will be created in a dental laboratory. When it has been completed, you will return for your second appointment to have it cemented onto the prepared tooth.
